Eminem‘s The Eminem Show was released back on May 26, 2002 and in celebration of the 15th anniversary, Eminem revealed a surprising influential Canadian actor/comedian: Jim Carrey.

If you’re not familiar with the title correlation, The Eminem Show was a direct reference to Carrey’s 1998 cult classic, The Truman Show. Eminem took to Instagram to explain the actor’s inspiring influence on the Diamond-selling album.
“The concept 4 the Eminem show was inspired by ‘The Truman Show’ because my life felt like it was becoming a circus around that time,” wrote Slim Shady. “I felt like I was always being watched. Basically, Jim Carrey wrote my album.”
Powerful words from one of raps most influential artists of the past two decades. No word on if Carrey received the shout out, but surely word passes quickly among the upper echelon.
