Fayetteville Mayor And Buies Creek Astros Team Up For “Play Ball Summer”
Players from the Buies Creek Astros will be hanging out at Lamon Street Field during a “Play Ball Summer” event hosted by Mayor Nat Robertson.
Fayetteville-Cumberland County Parks and Recreation summer camp members will have the opportunity to play an inning with the Buies Creek Astros on June 30. The players will also be signing autographs.
The “Play Ball Summer” initiative encourages a healthy and active lifestyle.
Mayor Robertson said in a news release: “I am excited to bring the Play Ball special event to Fayetteville and want to thank the Buies Creek Astros and Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks & Recreation for their help in making this possible. Baseball is our national pastime, and with the Astros bringing Minor League Baseball back to Fayetteville in 2019, this is a great opportunity for the public and summer campers to meet professional baseball players and receive encouragement on living an active and healthy lifestyle.” (via Fayetteville Observer)
The Lamon Street Field is located at 121 Lamon Street.
The baseball stadium where the Astros will be scheduled to play is set to be in downtown Fayetteville. It should be ready by 2019.
