More And More People Are Being Diagnosed With STI That Causes Blindness
Recently, the Centers for Disease Control released a report that indicated the incidence of several sexually transmitted infections had increased in the United States.
In 2016, 28 thousand people were diagnosed with syphilis. Syphilis, like many other STI’s is treatable with antibiotic treatment, however, left untreated the sexually transmitted infection can lead to blindness and even death.
Between 2015 and 2016, the rate at which people were diagnosed with Syphilis increased by 18 percent. That same year, 40 newborns died from the infection.
If you suffer from a sore throat, rash, headache and/or blurred vision, see your doctor and let he or she know you’d like to be tested for Syphilis.
