Rae Carruth Wants Custody Of The Baby He Tried To Kill
Ex-Carolina Panther wide receiver, Rae Carruth will be released from prison soon.
After serving 17 years of an 18-to-24 year sentence for conspiracy to murder his pregnant girlfriend, Carruth is now looking to fight for custody of his 18-year-old disabled son.
If you don’t know the story, back in 1999, Carruth hired a hit man, Van Brett Watkins, to kill his pregnant girlfriend, Cherica Adams. Watkins shot Adams four times but doctors were able to perform an emergency C-Section and save her baby, now Chancellor Lee Adams. Due to the traumatic birth, Chancellor was diagnosed with brain damage and cerebral palsy. Now 17 years later, Carruth wants custody of the child he wanted dead.
According to Complex, Saundra Adams, the mother or Cherica Adams and grandmother of Chancellor told The Charlotte Observer that, “I’ve forgiven Rae already, but to have any type of relationship with him, there does have to be some repentance, and I think this opens the door. But I can say definitively he’s not ever going to have custody of Chancellor.”
Carruth wrote a 15-page letter opening up about his life, situation and want to take responsibility, you can read it here.
Do you think Carruth is a changed man and deserves custody of his son?
