HBO Releases ‘Leaving Neverland’ Trailer
HBO released the trailer for Leaving Neverland, the documentary that explores pop icon Michael Jackson’s relationship with two young boys.
The two-part film features James Safechuck, at age 10 and Wade Robson, at age seven. Both Safechuck and Robson were befriended and allegedly sexually abused by Jackson when they were children.
In the trailer, Safechuck and Robson share their experiences with having to keep “secrets” regarding their relationship(s) with Jackson. “He told me if they ever found out what we were doing, he and I would go to jail for the rest of our lives,” Wade explains in the trailer.
When the film premiered at Sundance, Jackson’s family issued a statement calling the documentary “unfair”.
“They never interviewed a single solitary soul who knew Michael except the two perjurers and their families,” the statement read. “That is not journalism, and it’s not fair, yet the media are perpetuating these stories.”
The documentary that’s directed by Dan Reed premieres on Mar. 3 and Mar. 4 on HBO.
