Jordin Sparks’ Stepfather Dies of Stroke at 50
Jordin Sparks and her family suffered a devastating loss with the death of her stepfather, James Jackson, People Magazine reports.
According to People, Jackson, 50, suffered a stroke and died May 7. The army vet and firefighter leaves behind son Zachary (and wife Dawajeane); wife Jodi; stepdaughter Jordin (husband Dana Isaiah); and stepson P.J. Sparks (and his wife Jessica).
Sparks’ mother Jodi shared the news on social media last week in a heartbreaking post.
“James and I had a big beautiful love,” she wrote. “We loved out loud. He took nothing for granted and gave of himself every day to everyone. We adored each other and every minute he wasn’t working we were together loving our crazy, blessed life. He spent his life saving lives and will save many more through this tragedy. That was just who he was.”
Sparks has previously posted the couple, who married in 2014, several times on her social media. She served as maid of honor at their wedding.

Sparks, 29, has suffered quite a bit of loss in recent years. Last year, her 16-year-old stepsister, James’ daughter, died of sickle-cell anemia.
