Alex Trebek Offers Positive Update to Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer Diagnosis
Alex Trebek shocked fans in March when he announced he was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, but months later the longtime Jeopardy! host shared some very positive news about his health.
In speaking with People, Trebek said his cancer has been responding well to his chemotherapy treatment. “It’s kind of mind-boggling,” he said. “The doctors said they hadn’t sene this kind of positive result in their memory…some of the tumors have already shrunk by more than 50 percent.” Trebek said his doctors even said he was “near remission.”
This news is the exact polar opposite from when he announced his diagnosis via the Jeopardy! YouTube channel, however, Trebek still managed to maintain a positive attitude.
“Now, just like 50,000 other people in the United States each year, this week I was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer,” said Trebek. “Now normally, the prognosis for this is not very encouraging, but I’m going to fight this, and I’m going to keep working. And with the love and support of my family and friends and with the help of your prayers also, I plan to beat the low survival rate statistics for this disease. Truth told, I have to! Because under the terms of my contract, I have to host Jeopardy! for three more years! So help me. Keep the faith and we’ll win. We’ll get it done.”
