Bernie Sanders Hospitalized for Artery Blockage, Cancels Upcoming Campaign Events
Senator Bernie Sanders was hospitalized last night (October 1) and underwent a procedure for artery blockage after experiencing chest discomfort.
In a statement from Senator Sanders advisor Jeff Weaver, “During a campaign event yesterday evening, Senator Sanders experienced some chest discomfort. Following medical evaluation and testing he was found to have a blockage in one artery and two stents were successfully inserted. Senator Sanders is conversing and in good spirits. He will be resting up over the next few days. We are canceling his events and appearances until further notice, and we will continue to provide appropriate updates.”
Per The New York Times, Senator Sanders was in Las Vegas for a gun forum at the time of his hospitalization. He was then scheduled to travel to California.
A number of fellow Democratic primary hopefuls and other political figures sent their support to Senator Sanders after news broke of his hospitalization.
Thinking of @BernieSanders today and wishing him a speedy recovery. If there's one thing I know about him, he's a fighter and I look forward to seeing him on the campaign trail soon.
