Tekashi69 To Be Released From Prison In August
Tekashi69, who was the center of a high-profile court case for crimes involving his former gang, the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, is slated to be released from prison on August 2, as Complex reports.
Tekashi69, 23, born Daniel Hernandez, was sentenced to two years in prison and five years of supervised release in December of 2019. The Brooklyn rapper pleaded guilty to nine counts of federal racketeering, weapons-related offenses, and conspiracy.
Due to Tekashi’s cooperation with the federal government, the rapper was offered a lighter 24-month sentence, for being a cooperating witness, and testifying against two gang members.
Tekashi69 had previously requested the judge to allow him to serve the remainder of his prison sentence at home because he had security concerns, but the judge denied the rapper’s request.
The judge said that if Tekashi69 was allowed to serve the rest of the sentence at home it wouldn’t “reflect the seriousness of his crimes.”
