Hannah Brown Uses N-Word On Instagram Live, Then Apologizes

The Bachelorette's Hannah Brown is under fire for letting the n-word slip out while she was doing an Instagram live session.

In the video, which has been making its way around the internet, Hannah is singing a song and says the word in the verse. She later starts reading comments, realizes she let the word slip, and appears to be shocked. Then while smiling and laughing, she casually says, "I did? I'm so sorry." Her friend in the video tries to deny that Hannah said the word, then Hannah tries to blame is on someone names Patrick before saying, "Um, anyway..." and changing the subject.

Later, Hannah posted an apology on her story. She wrote, "I owe you all a major apology. There is no excuse and I will not justify what I said. I have read your messages and seen the hurt I have caused. I own it all. I am terribly sorry and know that whether in public or private, this language is unacceptable. I promise to do better."

After her apology, Rachel Lindsay, the first African-American Bachelorette in the franchise sent on her page to address what Hannah said. "I'm personally offended by what was done. To start from the beginning... last night when everything popped off, I didn't see it but I woke up to a bunch of messages today basically telling me what happened, so I tried to do something a little different," she said before using her platform to explain why the slur shouldn't be used.
