Surprise! Tropical Storm Bertha Quickly Forms, Heavy Rain Expected
Well that didn’t take long. What was just a tropical depression that didn’t look like it would have enough time to gain strength to become a named storm off the coast of South Carolina, is now Tropical Storm Bertha.
Bertha will make landfall today in South Carolina, bringing heavy rain and tropical storm force winds. Bertha will then quickly move inland and start impacting North Carolina and our area this afternoon.
The National Weather Service out of Raleigh says to expect heavy rains and low-end tornado threat this evening.
Just before making landfall, Tropical Storm Bertha has officially been named. Heavy rains and a low end tornado threat can be expected for Central North Carolina into the early evening hours. #NCwx https://t.co/QqEr5NiZtW
