Keke Wyatt Dedicates Song To George Floyd’s Family
Social media has been filled with an influx of people speaking out regarding the murder of George Floyd.
Via Instagram, on Wednesday (May 27), singer Keke Wyatt dedicated a song to George Floyd’s family.
“I want to dedicate this to the George Floyd family,” Wyatt wrote on Instagram. “Remember that GOD HAS YOUR BACKS.”
“I’m sooooo sorry for your loss,” Wyatt continued. “[He Touched Me] God bless U!!! Sorry, I sound bad. Trying not to cry…”
“I can’t imagine this as a mommy!!!” Keke Wyatt concluded. “He touched me. Oooooh, he touched me. And oooooh, the joy that floods my soul,” the soulful singer sang.
“Something has happened and now I know he touched me and it made me whole.” On Monday (May 25), Floyd, 46 was killed by police in Minneapolis, which echoes the murder of Eric Garner, a black man who died being arrested in New York City in 2014.
The FBI is slated to investigate the incident that took place. According to Minnesota police, Floyd had been working providing security at a restaurant, and he died after a “medical incident” in a “police interaction”.
On Tuesday (May 26), Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey confirmed the four police officers involved in the murder of Floyd had been “terminated.”
“This is the right call,” Frey tweeted. Frey described the killing as “completely and utterly messed up,” at an earlier press conference.
“I believe what I saw and what I saw is wrong on every level,” Frey said. “Being black in America should not be a death sentence.”
