Kansas City Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes Signs Largest Contract In The History of Sports
Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs recently signed the largest contract in the history of sports. On Monday (July 6), news broke regarding the NFL player signing a 10-year contract extension worth $503 million.
The quarterback’s deal also comes with $477 million in guarantee mechanisms and a no-trade clause, making the football star “the first half-billion-dollar player in sports history,” according to Steinberg Sports.
The Kansas City Chiefs confirmed Mahomes’ deal in a statement on Monday where CEO Clark Hunt called Mahomes “one of the most prolific athletes in all of sports.”
“With his dynamic play and infectious personality, he is one of the most recognized and beloved figures to put on the Chiefs uniform,” Hunt said. “He’s an extraordinary leader and a credit to the Kansas City community, and I’m delighted that he will be a member of the Chiefs for many years to come.”
In a statement, Chiefs General Manager Brett Veach said that keeping Mahomes has been a priority.
