Beyonce’s ‘Black Is King’ Trailer Is Out: Watch Here
Disney+ has dropped the trailer for Beyonce’s forthcoming project, Black Is King. The clip features several big names, including Jay-Z, Tina Knowles-Lawson, Naomi Campbell, Lupita Nyong’o, Kelly Rowland, and Pharrell Williams.
Per E! News, Disney said in a statement about the project, “Black Is King is an affirmation of a grand purpose, with lush visuals that celebrate Black resilience and culture. The film highlights the beauty of tradition and Black excellence.”
They added, “The film is a story for the ages that informs and rebuilds the present. A reunion of cultures and shared generational beliefs. A story of how the people left most broken have an extraordinary gift and a purposeful future.”
Beyonce went to Instagram last month to talk about her new labor of love. She wrote, “It is my passion project that I have been filming, researching and editing day and night for the past year. I’ve given it my all and now it’s yours.”
“The events of 2020 have made the film’s vision and message even more relevant, as people across the world embark on a historic journey. We are all in search of safety and light. Many of us want change. I believe that when Black people tell our own stories, we can shift the axis of the world and tell our REAL history of generational wealth and richness of soul that are not told in our history books.”
Black Is King will begin streaming on Disney+ on July 31. Watch the trailer below.
