LISTEN: J. Cole Drops Two New Singles ‘The Climb Back’ & ‘Lion King On Ice’
This week, J. Cole returns with “The Climb Back” and “Lion King on Ice,” the first two singles off his forthcoming album The Fall Off. “Everybody mentions suicide prevention/Man, they even made a hotline/To callup when there’s tension, but I got a question/What about a f—in’ homicide?/Need a number for my n—– to call/Whenever there’s an urge to get triggers involved,” raps Cole on the self-produced “The Climb Back.”
Over the soulful production, Cole issued a warning, “A problem with me is like the BET Hip-Hop Awards / I’m starting to see you n—-s don’t want it…I’m sick of this flauntin’ from n—-s I know fo sho ain’t got more dough than Cole / Trash rappers, ass-backward, tryna go toe-to-toe / We laugh at ya.”
“I got bloods on my hands, I ain’t gon’ lie / I got mud on my shoes, I ain’t gon’ lie,” raps Cole on “Lion King On Ice. “Got a whole lot to prove.” On the self-produced track alongside T-Minus and Jetson, J. Cole took it back to his mixtape days.“I’m stronger than ever before just like I planned to be / They wanna see me fold, it ain’t no thing to me,” Cole raps.
The North Carolina rapper is currently preparing to drop his next album The Fall Off, the follow-up to 2018’s KOD. J. Cole is currently still putting the finishing touches on the project, so it’s currently unclear exactly when the album will drop. “No date for the album yet, taking my time, still finishing,” J. Cole recently told fans.
