‘The Ren & Stimpy Show’ Gets Comedy Central Reboot
The Ren & Stimpy Show has become the latest animated hit of the ’90s to receive a reboot at Comedy Central.
Per a press release from the network, the reboot joins a reboot of Beavis and Butt-Head, Clone High and the Daria spin-off Joadie to Comedy Central’s animated offerings.
In a statement on the reboot, President of ViacomCBS Entertainment & Youth Group Chris McCarthy said, “We are excited to reinvent this iconic franchise with a new creative team and our partners at the Nickelodeon Animation Studio. ‘Ren & Stimpy’ joins our rapidly expanding roster of adult animation including ‘South Park’, ‘Beavis and Butt-Head’ and ‘Clone High’ as we continue to reimagine our treasure chest of beloved IP for new generations.”
President of Content and Chief Creative Officer for ViacomCBS Entertainment & Youth Group Nina L. Diaz added, “I want to thank our partners at Nick Animation as we re-imagine these iconic characters with a new creative team.”
The Ren & Stimpy Show originally ran on Nickelodeon from 1991-1995 for 52 full episodes. The series also aired on MTV in 1996.
An exact premiere date for the reboot has yet to be announced.
