Cardi B Shares What ‘WAP’ Stands For, Says Song Is ‘Nasty’
Cardi B is slated to drop her new single “WAP” featuring Megan Thee Stallion on Friday, and the Bronx rapper recently shared what the song’s title stands for during an interview.
During the interview, Cardi B said that “WAP” stands for “Wet Ass P—-,” and she also talked about why she wanted to collaborate with Hot Girl Meg.
“The song is really nasty. The song always been nasty,” Cardi B said. “My verses and the hook has been the same since before Megan was there. So it just always been a nasty song and it’s like, ‘Who’s saying more nastier things than Megan?’”
However, the “Money” rapper said it wasn’t easy to tone down the racy track. “It was really hard for me to clean this song up,” Cardi said before reciting some of the song’s lyrics: “Now from the top, make it drop, bounce that big ol’ booty.”
“WAP’ is the lead single deriving from Cardi B’s long-awaited sophomore album, which is the follow-up to her 2018 debut Invasion of Privacy.

The video for “WAP” is rumored to feature cameos from other women, including Mulatto, Rubi Rose, Suki, Hana, and Kylie Jenner.
During the video, when Cardi was directly asked if Jenner would appear in the visual, the rapper played coy. “You gonna have to watch the video to find out,” Cardi B teased.
