Janelle Monae recently released an inspiring new single “Turntables,” which was featured in the forthcoming Amazon Studios documentary, All In: The Fight for Democracy.

In the song, the singer and actress sings about a "new agenda." “Got a new agenda with a new dream / I’m kicking out the old regime / Liberation, elevation, education,” Monae sings on the soul-funk record.

“I’m simply watching, examining and wanting to highlight all of the people who are on the front lines, fighting for our democracy, fighting against racial inequalities, fighting against white supremacy, fighting against systemic racism and systemic oppression,” Monae told Apple Music. “This song is to keep us motivated. This song is to lift up and keep us galvanized when we’re fatigued. And this song is really for the people.”

“Turntables” marks the singer's first new single since her third solo album, 2018’s Dirty Computer. On Sept. 9,  All In: The Fight for Democracy opens in select theaters prior to streaming exclusively on Amazon Prime Video starting Sept. 18. Monae also stars in the forthcoming psychological horror-thriller Antebellum, which premieres Sept. 18.
