Lil Wayne Could Face Up To 10 Years In Jail For Federal Weapon Charges
Lil Wayne has been hit with some charges that could land him in jail for a very long time.
TMZ states, “The U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida has charged the rapper with one count of possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon. Weezy — who was convicted of a felony gun charge in NY back in 2009 — faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.”
This stems from an incident he had in December of 2019 when the plane he was on was stopped at Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport. He was a passenger on the flight and was charged with having a handgun in his luggage.
In response to Wayne’s charges, his lawyer said, “There is no allegation that he ever fired it, brandished it, used it or threatened to use it. There is no allegation that he is a dangerous person. The charge is that because he was convicted of a felony in the past, he is prohibited from possessing a firearm.”
Lil Wayne will appear in court next month to determine his fate.
