Severe Weather Expected For Region Thursday
Severe weather is expected to move into all of Southeastern North Carolina on Thursday, and residents are encouraged to be vigilant in preparation.
“This widespread severe weather event, which will stretch from Virginia to Florida, is expected to impact Cumberland County and surrounding areas from 3 to 6 p.m,” Cumberland County said in a news release. “Damaging straight-line winds, large hail and a few significant tornadoes are possible hazards. This storm may result in downed trees, power outages and possible structural damage. Residents are urged to secure loose yard items including roll out trash cans, lawn furniture, etc.”
North Carolina Emergency Management said increased chances of thunderstorms, hail, front-line winds, and possible tornadic activity should be expected.
