DMX’s Hasn’t Regained Brain Function: Life Support Decision Impending
DMX has not regained any brain function nearly a week after his overdose, and his family may soon be faced with a hard decision of whether or not to withdraw life support, gossip web site TMZ reports.
According to the gossip site, sources with direct knowledge said the series of tests performed on DMX on Wednesday showed no improvement in brain activity since he was rushed to the hospital after suffering a drug overdose late Friday night. He had little brain function after being deprived of oxygen for nearly half an hour.
DMX remains in a coma and it was revealed to TMZ the test results were “not good.” Apparently, the family has asked DMX’s longtime friend and manager, Steve Rifkind, to fly to New York tomorrow, another sign that their hope for his survival is dwindling.
As we earlier reported, DMX’s family, fiancée, son, friends, and fans have turned out by the hundreds to send him prayers and positive vibes outside of the White Plains Hospital in New York. Only a limited number of family members have been allowed inside the ICU because of COVID-19 restrictions.
It is currently unclear when DMX’s family will make their decision on his medical future, but Rifkind told the gossip site that the tests were critical and once the results were in “the family would determine what’s best from there.”
