DMX’s $35K Funeral Expenses Covered By Def Jam Recordings
DMX’s longtime label Def Jam Recordings reportedly made a huge contribution to the late rapper’s funeral expenses — by covering it all.
According to documents obtained by gossip website TMZ, Def Jam Recordings paid the bill that was sent to the family from Brooks Memorial Home Inc. in Yonkers, NY. The receipt paid by Def Jam was dated May 5, 2021, showing the covered services of Earl Simmons (X’s full government name).
Per the document, those services included the transfer of remains to the funeral home, embalming, hearse, flowers, and the custom red casket that was carried on a monster truck to the Barclays Center’s celebration of life in Brooklyn. The casket itself cost $7,450, bringing Def Jam’s total to $35,228.13.

As we previously reported, DMX died at the age of 50, following an overdose back in April. His kids and famous friends like Nas, Eve and the original Ruff Ryders delivered powerful words at his service.
