Eminem to Appear in 50 Cent’s New Series as ‘White Boy Rick’
Looks as if there will be another 50 Cent and Eminem collab coming soon, but this time it’s going to be on-screen.
50 Cent has cast Eminem for his new series BMF which stands for Black Mafia Family, on Starz in one episode as the teenage FBI informant, White Boy Rick. Eminem’s character is based on a true story of the informant per The Wrap.
“I’m honored and appreciative of my good friend Em for supporting my new show BMF,” Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson said in a statement per The Wrap. “We couldn’t do a show based in Detroit without incorporating the legend that is Eminem.”
White Boy Rick, whose real name is Rick Wershe Jr., was an FBI informant in his early teens when he sold drugs and guns as part of a Detroit gang. Wershe was later dropped by the FBI and sentenced to life in prison after being found with the possession of cocaine. He was released at the age of 50 in 2020.
Besides a couple of music videos, Eminem has not acted since his legendary role in 2002’s 8 Mile.
BMF is inspired by the true story of two brothers, Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory and Terry “Southwest T” Flenory, who rose from the streets of southwest Detroit in the late 1980s and gave birth to one of the most influential crime families in this country per The Wrap.
“Big Meech” will be played by 50 Cent’s real-life son Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr.
Also starring on BMF are Da’Vinchi, Russell Hornsby, and Michole Briana White. 50 Cent will also have some star power behind this series including some recurring guest stars, Snoop Dogg, La La Anthony, and Serayah.
50 Cent will be working alongside showrunner Randy Huggins, Terri Kopp, Anthony Wilson, and Anne Clements executive produce. Actress Tasha Smith will direct multiple episodes and executive produce.
The series was filmed in both Atlanta and Eminem’s hometown of Detroit. BMF is set to premiere Sept. 26 on Starz and will be 50 Cent’s second original series outside of the Power franchise on the network.
