Kanye Files To Have Legal Name Changed To ‘Ye’
Kanye West — or now should we say “Ye” — has begun filing the legal paperwork to have his name legally changed from Kanye to “Ye.”
According to court filings obtained by TMZ, the process is pretty clear. Kanye Omari West will then just legally be “Ye.” The outlet also reports that Kanye is getting rid of the whole name, including “West.” The rapper has always been very proud of his surname and often refers to himself in his songs as “Mr. West.” Estranged wife Kim Kardashian West still has the “West” surname amid divorce filings along with their four children, North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm.
If a judge signs off on the new moniker, Kanye will be no longer. Per the outlet, in California, unless there is evidence that the name change is due to criminal activity such as fraud, the judge will approve the filing. So, in this case, it is very likely that the judge will sign off on his request.
Let’s see if the new name drop is before or after the Donda release.
