Pop Smoke’s Murder Suspect Explains Intent Behind Botched Robbery
One of Pop Smoke’s alleged killers, Corey Walker, has spoken out about the intent behind the botched robbery that killed the 20-year-old rapper in February of 2020. Walker claims he told the gunman to hit the rapper with a vase, not shoot him.
Walker’s lawyer, Christopher Darden, explained his client’s defense in a motion to dismiss his murder and robbery charges Friday per HotNewHipHop.
Darden argued, “specifically voiced his opposition to any violence before Pop Smoke was fatally shot,” per the outlet.
Darden began explaining to the court that it’s clear that Walker’s intent was not to kill the Brooklyn rapper.
“It is clear from the evidence that [Walker] did not enter the house, was not armed, and did not personally kill the victim. Moreover, the evidence is clear that the defendant did not share the actual killer’s intent to kill.”
Darden also brought up that Walker “assaulted” the alleged gunman after he saw that Pop Smoke was dead.
Walker faces maximum of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
