Elton John Teams Up With Young Thug & Nicki Minaj On ‘Always Love You’
Elton John taps in rappers Young Thug and Nicki Minaj for “Always Love You” for his album The Lockdown Sessions.
On this melodic track, Elton plays the piano and sings the intro and chorus prior to Thug’s and Nicki’s verses. Elton and Thug take on the last chorus together and Nicki finishes out the song leading on the outro.
Per Rap-Up, Elton spoke on having Young Thug and Nicki on the track, “I’ve admired Young Thug for a while and he sampled one of my songs on his track, ‘High,’ back in 2018 so it was great to collaborate again,” said Elton. “And then, I was so pleased when Nicki agreed to do it. I’m very grateful to have such talented artists from a totally different genre to me on this album and that they’ve included me.”
Recorded over an 18-month period remotely over the course of the pandemic, other stars such as Lil Nas X, 6LACK, and Stevie Wonder also make appearances on The Lockdown Sessions.
