Will North Carolina Get a $268 Million Powerball Winner Saturday?
Could there be a lucky North Carolina resident out there about to see life-changing money – like quarter of a BILLION dollars in Powerball winnings life changing?
Let’s keep our fingers crossed, as the Powerball jackpot for Saturday’s drawing is an estimated $268 million. That’s a lot of cash.
And even if you didn’t want to take the Powerball winnings as the annuity for all $268 million, you could choose the cash option and get a measly $171.1 million… before taxes of course.
“While anyone would like to win the jackpot, you can win other big prizes playing Powerball as well,” said Mark Michalko, executive director of the North Carolina Education Lottery. “We’re waiting on Saturday night to see if someone can bring this jackpot home to North Carolina.”
In last Saturday’s drawing, someone in Harnett County won $100,000, and someone in Greene County won $50,000. A ticket sold in Monday’s drawing landed someone $50,000.
The last Powerball jackpot winner came on Valentine’s Day, when a Connecticut winner got $185.3 million. It’s been rolling up ever since, with three drawings every week.
Tickets are $2, but remember, your odds of winning are 1 in 292 million.
North Carolinians can buy Powerball tickets at any lottery retail location in the state. Tickets can also be purchased through Online Play on the lottery’s website, www.nclottery.com, and with the NC Lottery Official Mobile App.
Ticket sales from draw games such as Powerball help make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $900 million a year for education. For details on how lottery funds have made a difference in all of North Carolina’s 100 counties, click on the “Impact” section of the lottery’s website.
