On Patrol: Live – the Former Live PD – Debuts Tonight on REELZ

On Patrol: Live debuts tonight, July 22, on REELZ Channel. The former Live PD has a new home, and a few changes.

As we told you a few weeks ago, Live PD is back on television, with a new name, channel, and a few other changes, as On Patrol: Live.

The first live episode of the show is Friday, July 22 on REELZ Network at 9 p.m. Another new episode will air Saturday night at 9 p.m. as well.

REELZ is available in 70 million homes on DIRECTV channel 238, DISH Network channel 299, Verizon FiOS TV channel 692HD, AT&T U-verse channels 799/1799HD and Xfinity, Spectrum, and many other cable systems nationwide.

“Hosting and executive producing ON PATROL: LIVE is Dan Abrams, CEO and Founder of Abrams Media, host of Dan Abrams Live on NewsNation, Chief Legal Analyst for ABC News, and former host of Live PD,” REELZ said in a press release. “Joining Abrams is Sgt. Sean “Sticks” Larkin, retired Tulsa Police Department lieutenant with nearly 25 years of service, and Deputy Sheriff Curtis Wilson, Division Commander with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department in Columbia, SC.”

If that all sounds a little familiar, so will the description of what’s happening on air.

“Live on set every Friday and Saturday night, the trio will provide viewers minute-by-minute live analysis and context, offering unique insight into the experiences of the men and women of law enforcement appearing on the show.”

It’s essentially the same concept as the now cancelled “Live PD” show that A&E put an end to in June of 2020, after public fallout from a leaked incident where producers destroyed footage of an encounter between police and a Texas man, that ultimately led to the man’s death. This was in the wake of the killing of George Floyd, and national protests were taking place.

The new show keeps most of the same concepts as the original, but also adds a couple new elements, including “Citizen Ride-Alongs” and “Citizens On-Set,” which will both get members of the communities featured on the show involved in the direct police work being done.

“Preparations to launch On Patrol: Live are well underway and we are thrilled to be airing just one month from now,” Stan E. Hubbard, CEO of REELZ said earlier in the month. “The production’s complex logistics and technical sophistication are like producing a Super Bowl every Friday and Saturday night, and we’re thrilled to do it to deliver the excitement that only live television can. For viewers and distributors, On Patrol brings the promise of ‘anything can happen’ and ‘I’ve never seen that before’ – all adding up to a show that will be one of the most dynamic and compelling on TV.”

    Alleged to be one the most haunted locations in North Carolina, the legend of The Devil’s Tramping Ground has mystified curious visitors for over 120 years. According to Grunge.com, the patch got its name because the devil supposedly manifests there so he can plan mischief. One legend is that if a visitor puts anything in the middle of the patch, it will be tossed away by the next morning, because the devil is nothing if not tidy, apparently. Another states that animals give the area a wide berth and won’t cross it. Still others say that they’ve seen red, glowing eyes in the circle.

  • Blackbeard's Ghost at Ocracoke Island

    Ocracoke Island is alleged to be the home of Blackbeard’s ghost (aka Edward Teach). After adopted the island as his favorite locale to spend his days, he terrorized ships en route to the Carolinas. On November 22, 1718 Virginia Governor Alexander Spotswood sent a ship commanded by John Maynard down to the North Carolina coast to track down and kill Blackbeard. Maynard surprised Blackbeard and a skeleton crew anchored at Teach’s Hole. In the ferocious battle that followed, Blackbeard was shot five times and stabbed no less than twenty. The pirate crew was all killed or captured. Now legend has it that Blackbeard’s ghost haunts the spot known as Teach’s Hole. Many people have reported seeing a strange light moving beneath the water in the cove. This ghostly light is thought by some to be Blackbeard’s spirit, cruising the waters and hearing a his voice calling on the wind.
