Mariah Carey Teases The Start Of Christmas Season: ‘It’s Almost Time’
The “Queen of Christmas” Mariah Carey can’t wait for it to be “’tis the season” again. Over the weekend, the singer posted a series of teaser tweets with her hit 1994 song, “All I Want for Christmas is You” playing in the background. The 52-year-old singer began her thread with a picture of a bathtub with roses spelling out her initials “MC” and a glittering red gown draped over the tub steps this Sunday (October 16). Carey simply captioned the image: “It’s almost time …”

The singer added two more tweets to the thread, with the second, captioned, “But …,” showing a short video of the singer in a bubble bath facing away from the camera. The back of her blonde head is shown and we hear a knock on the door in her chosen audio, then the jingle from “All I Want for Christmas is You” begins to play with a clock ticking in the background while Carey shakes her finger.

In the final tweet, captioned, “Not yet,” Carey is now facing the camera surrounded with bubbles and a big grin. Responding to a child’s voice asking, “We want to listen to ‘All I Want!'” Carey says “not yet” as she blows bubbles toward the camera. “Well, could we at least decorate the tree?” More knocking sounds are heard and Carey responds, “Not yet!” and splashes some bubbles towards the camera before turning back around.

It’s unclear if Carey is teasing a new Christmas project, but last November, she waited hardly ONE MINUTE after Halloween ended to announce that it’s time to get into the holiday spirit. The singer posted a video to social media shortly after midnight on November 1, walking out of her front door wielding a candy cane-striped baseball bat as a clock chimes. Three pumpkins outside are carved to read: “IT’S NOT TIME” but the pop icon smashes the middle “NOT” and “All I Want For Christmas Is You” begins playing.

The official Barbie Twitter account responded to the singer’s tweet writing, “but there’s just one thing we need,” prompting fans to speculate that a collaboration between Carey and Barbie could be on the horizon.
According to a report from The Economist in 2016, as of that year Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas is You” had made the singer $60 million in royalties since its release nearly two decades prior. Furthermore, according to Celebrity Net Worth, the singer makes somewhere between $600,000 to $1 million each December from the song alone. As we previously reported, back in 1994, Mariah was 24 and her then-husband and manager Tommy Mottola forced her to make a Christmas album. It reportedly only took 15 minutes to write and compose “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” With global sales of over 16 million, the song is Carey’s biggest international success, the 12th best-selling single of all time and the best-selling Christmas single by a female artist overall.
