“I’m doing this mainly for the trial preparation aspect,” Judge David Herriford said, overruling a prosecution objection
Openings expected 12/12
Before calling the first set of prospective jurors, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge David Herriford told the court his reasoning behind the decision. “The main reason is that during trial, it’s difficult to have a client who’s not accessible. I’m doing this mainly for the trial preparation aspect,” he said per RS. He added that the “Say It” singer’s $350,000 bond in the case will still stand.
The Traumazine rapper spoke about the incident on CBS Mornings in April where she claimed that Lanez offered her $1M to stay quiet after the shooting.
“He’s apologizing, like, ‘I’m so sorry. Please don’t tell nobody,” the rapper recalls. “I’ll give y’all a million dollars if y’all don’t say nothing.’ And I’m like, ‘What are you talking about?’ Like, ‘Why are you offering me money right now?’ Help me. Like, and if you’re sorry, just help me.”
“I was really scared ‘cause I had never been shot at before,” she said to Gayle King. “And I looked down at my feet, ’cause I wasn’t even – the adrenaline is pumping so hard, I’m not sure if he hit me. Like, I feel it, but I don’t understand what’s happening. So, I looked down at my feet. I’m like, ‘Oh, my God.’ Like, I’m really bleeding. So, I drop down, and I crawl in somebody’s driveway. Like, I can’t believe he shot me.”
The openings in the trial are expected on Dec. 12.
