Cardi B Granted An Extension After Failing To Complete Community Service
Cardi B has been given more time to complete her community service. According to TMZ, the Bronx native appeared in court on Tuesday (January 17) due to not doing any of the 15 hours of community service she was ordered to complete last year per her plea deal. After failing to meet the initial deadline, the judge gave her a new date of March 1 to complete her sentence.
Drew Findly, Cardi’s attorney said, per HipHopDX: “Personally and professionally, Cardi is dedicated to community service and charitable endeavors. She therefore appreciates the court giving her until March 1 to complete her community service commitment in Queens, New York.”
Last year, the “WAP” rapper pleaded guilty to 3rd-degree assault and reckless endangerment in the second degree. She has since been placed on a three-year order of protection from the Wattley sisters. She was also sentenced to serve 15 days of community service.
Back in August of 2018, Cardi allegedly hurled a hookah and two champagne bottles at the Wattley sisters. The Wattley sisters are bartenders at the Queens club Angels NYC. The rapper then allegedly ordered her crew to assault them. According to TMZ, the two women go by Jade and Baddie Gi and Cardi’s reason as to why she allegedly ordered her crew to assault them was that she suspected that they had sex with her husband, Offset. Cardi was arrested and booked a few months later for her alleged role in the strip club fight.
She spoke to TMZ shortly after her trial and reflected on her actions. “Part of growing up and maturing is being accountable for your actions,” she said. “As a mother, it’s a practice that I am trying to instill in my children, but the example starts with me. I’ve made some bad decisions in my past that I am not afraid to face and own up to.”
