Kanye West ‘Freaknik’ Video Resurfaces Online
A racy video of Kanye West allegedly at Freaknik has begun making rounds online. In the video, the rapper is seen with his cell phone out recording a woman dancing as he sits next to other men gawking at the woman.
However, this is not the first time the video has spent some time being shared online. The video reportedly was previously reposted on Reddit back in 2021. It was recently reposted by No Jumper.
The video has gotten mixed “reviews.” Some found Kanye’s reaction to his blank stare while filming the woman twerk hilarious. Others debated if that was the event he actually attended. The man in the video is Kanye but close observers noticed that his clothes and phone do not match the era. Freaknik is an annual spring break festival that takes in Atlanta, Georgia every year and ended in 1999. The event was primarily attended by students of historically Black colleges and universities. The event was revived in 2019. In the video, the rapper is wearing a polo and baggy jeans, similar to his 2000 fashion and not the late 90s. He made the polo and baggy jean combo a staple during his College Dropout years. Another clue was his cell phone. Flip phones with cameras weren’t commercially accessible until 2000.

If it wasn’t Freaknik that Ye attended, some Twitter users have speculated that the video actually comes from an event at Texas Kappa Beach, per HotNewHipHop. That event was held at a later time.
The footage follows Hulu’s announcement that they are working on a new Freaknik documentary. The doc is titled Freaknik: The Wildest Party Never. It “recounts the rise and fall of a small Atlanta HBCU picnic that exploded into an influential street party and spotlighted ATL as a major cultural stage,” per Variety. “Can the magic of Freaknik be brought back 40 years later?”
An official release date for the documentary has yet to be announced.
