"He was classmates with Quavo — the third member of Migos — and began hanging out with him and TakeOff when Offset was in the sixth grade," the Variety article reads. "While Quavo was TakeOff’s uncle, the two were just three years apart in age, and although Offset is often referred to as Quavo’s cousin, they are actually not biologically related."
One fan responded to the excerpt of the article writing: "So, damn near a decade of folks writing about migos all being family was … not true? at least the offset/quavo cousin aspect mind you — and nobody corrected it?"
In his Variety cover story, the rapper spoke about his forthcoming solo project as Quavo made it clear in past songs that the Migos are over following the November 2022 passing of Takeoff.

Offset revealed that his next full-length project will feature Cardi B, Future, the late TakeOff, Latto, Travis Scott, and Chloë Bailey.
"This is me going full-fledged into my solo career," he said. "The objective is to do it fully and smash shit and fuck the game up as a solo artist. I’m coming through, bustin’ through the door. It’s all set, my next chapter. It’s my time."
Prior to Takeoff's tragic death last year, the group had seemingly disbanded with Offset going solo and Quavo and Takeoff forging a path as a duo with the moniker Unc & Phew. Quavo and Takeoff released a full-length project titled Only Built For Infinity Links a month prior to Takeoff's death.
Offset won't be the only one honoring Takeoff in a future project. Quavo announced last month that he will release an album titled Rocket Power in honor of his nephew.
"#RocketPower All My Emotions In This Album No Interviews," Quavo wrote Tuesday (April 11).
Offset's album will arrive sometime this summer with a tour accompanying the project.
Offset is one-third of the Migos rap group featuring his cousin Quavo and Quavo's nephew Takeoff. The ATL native has proven to bring unique qualities to the group and outside projects with memorable verses and tight adlibs. He ventured off onto his own solo project in 2019 with FATHER OF 4 honing his own voice and creative direction.
