North Carolina Has One of the Cheapest Cities for Rent Right Now
One of the hot topics right now is how high rent is in so many American towns and cities. There was once at time when if you wanted cheap rent, you could just pick a city with a low cost of living and move there. But, now those cities and getting more difficult to find. Even in some cities with low costs of living, the rent can by very high. But, as it turns out, North Carolina has one of the cheapest cities for rent in 2023.
Forbes.com has released a list of the best cities for renters in 2023. “Affordable rent, ample living space and access to a nearby park could be the magic formula for finding the perfect apartment,” they explain. “The cities below come the closest to offering ideal renter conditions.” As for methodology, “To find the best cities for renters, we scored 93 of the largest U.S. cities using apartment data from Apartments.com, disaster data from FEMA, park information from The Trust for Public Land, and other data sources.”
Cheapest Cities for Rent:
Before we get to our area in regards to the cheapest cities for rent, let’s discuss the No. 1 best city for renters in 2023. According to the list, it’s Lincoln, Nebraska. There, the average rent for a two-bedroom is $1,068 a month. “If you’re waiting out winter from inside, you’re likely in a roomy apartment with a low rent: Lincoln has the lowest average rent among our Top 10 best cities for renters and good average apartment square footage,” Forbes.com states.
Raleigh, North Carolina, comes in at No. 4 on the list. There, the average rent for a two-bedroom is $1,526 a month. “Raleigh is a top place to find an apartment with amenities and at a decent monthly rent. Apartments in Raleigh often come with ample space, on average, and have many pools (47%) and/or gyms (76%),” the study states. “You’ll have to deal with hurricanes, but you won’t have to cope with much crime: Raleigh has a relatively low rate of crime among the cities we analyzed.” Find the full list here.
