North Carolina Has One of the Easiest Cities to Get Rich in the U.S.
I’m pretty sure nobody would be mad about getting some extra cash. Some people might even say that their dream is to get rich. As it turns out, North Carolina has one of the easiest cities to get rich in America.
The study comes from GoBankingRates.com, which looked at the 50 most populous cities and ranked them. “Although Americans define being ‘rich’ in many ways, one way to look at it is having enough income to cover necessary expenses — groceries, shelter, utilities, healthcare and transportation — and still having plenty of money left over,” they state in the story. “Using this as the barometer, GOBankingRates determined the U.S. cities where it’s easiest to get rich by analyzing the 50 most populous cities, looking at the median household income after taxes minus living costs, and finding the places where median earners have a healthy amount of funds left over to do with whatever they please.” They added that in the top 10 cities where it’s easiest to get rich, the median household will have more than $18,000 each year after covering basic expenses.
Before we get to our state, what’s No. 1? That’s Virginia Beach, Virginia. Their median household income is $81,810, and their take-home pay after taxes is $61,306. Also, their annual cost of necessities is $34,992 and the difference between their take-home pay and cost of necessities is $26,314.
Charlotte, North Carolina, is No. 8 on the list of the easiest cities to get rich in America. Here, our median household income is $68,367 and our take-home pay after taxes is $53,194. Also, our annual cost of necessities is $33,772 and the difference between their take-home pay and cost of necessities is $19,422. Raleigh, North Carolina, is also on the list at No. 4.
