82nd Airborne Chorus Appearing on ‘America’s Got Talent’ Tuesday Night
It hasn’t been a secret that the 82nd Airborne Division All American Chorus from Fort Liberty, was going to appear on this season of “America’s Got Talent,” but now we’re able to see that performance, and know when it’s coming.
NBC released an “Early Release” video of the appearance for the official chorus of the 82nd Airborne Division on its social channels Friday, in anticipation of the television broadcast on Tuesday, July 11.
Chorus members admitted they had auditioned for the show several months ago, but hadn’t said much else. The video released Friday shows the chorus doing its traditional performance of the All The Way Airborne chant song, followed by an a cappella version of “My Girl” by The Temptations. You can watch the performance below.
Judge Simon Cowell asks the group what their “big dream in coming on the show” is and Staff Sgt. Marcus Gilbert tells him directly, “We are here to win.”
The group performed in honor of Spc. Elijah Crawford, who Gilbert said died not long before the audition. “We are dedicating this performance to him, and all the soldiers that have passed before him,” Gilbert said.
Spc. Roldan, who we saw perform with the 82nd Airborne Division Rock Band at the 4th at the Fort celebration recently, led the team with the first verse of “My Girl.”
The group is no stranger to NBC shows, having appeared on the “Kelly Clarkson Show,” after going viral for another performance of “My Girl.”
“The 18th season of “America’s Got Talent” returns with a new set of aspiring performers looking to compete for the ultimate $1 million prize,” NBC said in a release on the show. “Executive Producer Simon Cowell returns to the star-studded judging panel with global fashion icon Heidi Klum, fan-favorite comedian Howie Mandel and acclaimed actress and international superstar Sofia Vergara. The dynamic Terry Crews returns as host. This season promises to deliver some of the wildest acts to ever grace the ‘AGT’ stage.”
While we won’t know the result of the “America’s Got Talent” audition until the broadcast airs Tuesday night on NBC, the 82nd Airborne Division All American Chorus members are already winners in our community.
