Kanye West, Ty Dolla $ign ‘Vultures’ Cover Reportedly Surfaces
Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign’s cover art for their upcoming album Vultures has reportedly surfaced. Playboi Carti, who is a reported feature on the album, posted the photo as well as fan accounts for Kanye. The photo takes inspiration from an 1800s painting that shows a vulture perched on a shovel on top of a grave. The post also shows a version of the original painting in sepia. The painting was created by Caspar David Friedrich around 1835 – 1837.
Fans React To Potential Album Cover For Vultures
Fans in the comment section spoke out about how they feel about the potential cover art, while some added more context.
“His sepia drawing Landscape with Grave, Coffin, and Owl is symptomatic of the obsession with which Friedrich tracked death in the last years of his life. The eyes of the exaggeratedly large, surreal night bird glint in the light of the moon, which floats like a nimbus above the owl’s head,” a fan wrote, quoting the art site Web Gallery of Art. “Visible in the background is Cape Arkona on the island of Rügen, although in a different landscape setting. It is possible that the owl, while undoubtedly a bird of death, here also represents a symbol of wisdom,” another wrote.
“This reminds me of the MBDTF iconic cover,” another fan wrote, referencing Kanye’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy cover art.
“4th pic alone would be a sick cover ngl,” a fan wrote, referring to the original painting from Friedrich.
“I don’t even know what that means gets the people going,” one fan wrote, reciting a line from “N—– In Paris.”
