Young Thug Trial Postponed To 2024
Young Thug’s trial has been postponed to 2024. The rapper, born Jefferey Williams, is on trial along with five other defendants for racketeering conspiracy. His co-defendant Shannon Stillwell was stabbed multiple times in Fulton County jail, giving reasoning why the judge postponed the trial to January 2, 2024.
According to AP News, “Stillwell was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta after the stabbing, and Glanville on Monday issued an order for hospital staff to allow his attorneys to visit him there ‘to the extent that it is medically cleared.’ He also ordered that Stillwell be kept separate from other defendants in the case once he is returned to the jail.”
Superior Court Chief Judge Ural Glanville sent the jurors home on Monday (Dec. 11), and on Tuesday (Dec. 12), the judge announced that the trial would be postponed.
“I’m going to recess you for the holidays today,” Judge Ural Glanville told the jurors. He also instructed that during this recess, the jurors don’t speak to anyone about the trial.
The trial for Young Thug and the five others began last month after a 10-month process of jury selection.

Prior to the beginning of the trial, he was charged alongside 27 other rappers, including Gunna, who was eventually released last December after pleading guilty under the Alford plea. For the impending trial, Thugger and five other defendants, Marquavius Huey, Deamonte Kendrick (known as Yak Gotti), Quamarvious Nichols, Rodalius Ryan, and Shannon Stillwell have all pleaded not guilty. They have been accused of YSL being a street gang that has been involved in robberies, murder, murder, assault, theft, illegal gun possession, and illegal drug possession and sales in Atlanta since 2012, according to Pitchfork.
A trial as complex as this could take as long as a year. If a jury finds Young Thug guilty, he could face years in prison.
