DB Is Throwing It Way Back to 2006 for Viral Photo Trend

DB from 107.7 The Bounce in 2006 and in 2024

I'm usually not a fan of these old trends but I had to try this one. All across Facebook people are posting a collage of their first Facebook profile pictures and comparing them to their most recent selfies. I joined Facebook on August 16, 2006, which would have been not long after my birthday. I didn't upload my profile picture until Dec of that year and this is what I posted:

DB 2006: Mysterious. Hiding in the shadows in my old gray hoodie. I get cold in most air conditioned rooms so you can honestly see me always wearing a jacket so that checks out. This would have been my first year of college. I initially went to school for theater thinking I would become an actor but in the midst of this I switched to mass communications with a focus in Broadcasting. I was about 160lbs and for my height I was a string bean. My voice was as deep as it is today so it was a weird sight. I just was trying to be cool here and overall I'm pretty embarrassed.

Dream Job: Become a Movie Star!

Number One Song: Beyonce - Irreplaceable

DB 2024: Still a silly guy. I've been together with my wife for close to a decade. We got married in 2021. Since 2006, I've lived a few lives. Monitor Technician, Photographer, Videographer. I've lived in Wilmington and have moved to a few different apartments before buying my first home in 2020. Survived a global pandemic. Hosted events including stand-up comedy shows, trivia, costume contests etc. Less mysterious but this guy still likes to wear a hoodie. I gained some weight. I think my voice matches the person now. I don't think I care to be embarrassed anymore. I feel like the heart is still the same but the stories have taught me many different lessons. I wish I could tell 2006 DB, you will never truly figure it out because you aren't supposed to. Live and have as much fun. And most of all it's ok.

Current Job: Co-Host of The Bounce Morning Rollout w/Minda

Number One Song: Shaboozey - A Bar Song (Tipsy)

3 Restaurants You Might Miss If You’re From Fayetteville

Has there ever been a restaurant from your childhood that you miss dearly? I remember so many that have come and gone here in Fayetteville. I was born in Summer of 1988 and you could consider our town a small town in some ways. Growing up you had chains but also the local places are the standouts like McDonalds or Burger King but when you are a kid with no source of income alot of our good eating came from the buffet style.

The Pizza Hut Buffet is legendary. Unlimited pizza and salad all during lunch time kept us all happy. One Summer we had a Pokemon Card competition at Toys-R-Us but before we got there we stopped to Pizza Hut for the buffet. My grandmother was the one to always take us to these places while my mom worked and it would be my best friends Mark & Steven along with my brother and sister. My grandmother didn't need to cook for all these mouths and cmon now pizza is legendary! I was a simple guy. For the longest time I was cool with just cheese pizza. So as much as I could I would chow down on that while everyone else ate pepperoni like all the rest of the normies would. I would sometimes switch it up and go meat lovers and remove all the pepperoni. I liked pepperoni but just not with my pizza. And to keep my grandmother happy we of course had to have at least one salad.

The other Pizza Buffet of note was always Cici's Pizza. Now not as popular where CiCi's took it to the next level was the pasta and desserts like Cinnamon rolls. At Cici's the pizza was a lot smaller in size so it was easier to have competitions with each other. The record currently held by my friend Mark was 13 slices of pizza. He got really sick but he is still the champion nonetheless. Here are the other fun places I miss in Fayetteville.

Shoney's

Now the burgers and milkshakes were always top-tier. But the best breakfast we always looked forward too was at Shoney's. The pancakes were everything.

Ryan's

Now our love for buffets was undisputed. For some reason though I can always remember the Macaroni and Cheese the most from Ryan's. This was the go to for After Church and we even had a few wedding receptions here.

Backyard Burgers

They had the burgers and the hotdogs. We used to walk to Backyard Burgers when we lived on Bunce. In hindsight, probably not the safest but hey we are here still. Now the thing I looked forward to most was the fries. I miss them.
