Hi everyone. Our servers are undergoing maintenance so we are moving our live coverage today to social. See you there.
3:30 P.M. - Shot of the Day
Bubba Watson just hit the shot of the day. This is a must see.
And if you didn’t believe us about the wind… look at this flag.

— Golf Central (@GolfCentral) April 8, 20223 P.M. - Im In the Clubhouse
With scores tanking (we’ll talk about Tiger in a minute), Round 1 leader Sungjae Im is mercifully off the course.
Fortunately for him, he’s still currently tied for the lead at 3-under, but his 2-over 74 is over before the winds destroy any hope. A bogey on 18 sealed that fate.
And as for our friend Tiger, he’s got bogeys on 1, 3 and 4… and he’s in trouble on 5. It’s not pretty.
2:25 P.M. - Shaking Up Top

Tiger is having trouble staying out of trouble today. After the bogey on 1, he settled for a par on 2, and is now in trouble on 3, missing the green. (He ended up bogeying 3.)
Sungjae Im has gone back and forth all day, but he’s currently tied at the top after a birdie on 16. He’s 1-over for the day and tied with Danny Willett.
2 P.M. - Tiger Bogey's 1
Definitely not the start Tiger Woods wanted to his second round. A bunker drive, followed by a chunked second shot off the green, set up a bogey to put him back at even par for the tournament, currently in 17th place.
Sungjae Im and Danny Willett are tied at the top at -4, with Charl Schwartzel in the clubhouse at -3.
1:41 P.M. - Tiger Time

Tiger Woods is on the course. His opening drive was errant left on the first, but given the wind conditions… that’s gonna happen to a lot of people.
Just 12 golfers are under par today. And it’s probably not going to get more than that.
The current cut line is at the 54 golfers 3-over and better.
1:25 P.M. - Crowded Leaderboard
With Tiger Woods set to tee off in just a few minutes, let’s take a look at where things stand right now:
- Cameron Smith, -4 (1:30 p.m. tee)
- Sungjae Im, -4 (13)
- Charl Schwartzel, -3 (17)
- Corey Conners, -3 (15)
- Danny Willett, -3 (1)
- Joquin Niemann, -3 (1:41 tee)
- Scottie Scheffler, -3 (2:03 tee)
After that, it’s a pack of three golfers at -2 and eight golfers at -1 (including Tiger).
Schwartzel is having the round of the day so far, as he’s 3-under on the day, playing his final hole.

— The Masters (@TheMasters) April 8, 20221:05 P.M. - Im Drops
The best way to stay in the lead at the Masters today is to just not be on the course.
Cameron Smith is now atop the leaderboard at 4-under, and he doesn’t tee off until 1:30 p.m.
Smith is in that position because others are starting to drop. Sungjae Im was on top, but he’s got three bogeys and a birdie on his card today, and has dropped back into a tie for second.
We are down to just 18 players under par.
12:25 P.M. - Oosthuizen Out
The Masters is over for Louis Oosthuizen, as he has withdrawn before the start of his second round. He shot a 76 in round 1.
Of note, Oosthuizen was in the group with Tiger Woods (-1) and Joquin Niemann (-3), so that grouping will now be just a pairing on the course. Lots more attention to be paid on Tiger.
Due to injury, Louis Oosthuizen has officially withdrawn from the Masters Tournament prior to the start of his second round. #themasters
— The Masters (@TheMasters) April 8, 2022Noon - Uh oh...
The topic of the day so far has been wind. This Tweet speaks for itself.
Just walked off the course. Wind is blowing in bursts and changing directions. Guys have no idea what to do and the bad stuff isn’t rolling in for another few hours. Amen Corner felt like it was surrounded by windmills. There’s going to be carnage. It’s going to be spectacular
— Joel Beall (@JoelMBeall) April 8, 202211:45 A.M. - Winning Stache

Erik Van Rooyen isn’t going to win the Masters this year. We feel pretty confident in that, given he’s 4-over and tied for 60th right now.
But anything could happen, right?
Fortunately for the South African, he’s already won the best mustache in the field this year. Nobody comes close to the glory of that thing!
11:30 A.M. - Dustin On The Prowl
We talked about Dustin Johnson yesterday. He’s obviously no stranger to big, BIG success at the Masters, winning the 2020 edition in record fashion.
Well, he’s trying to put himself in position once again. He became the first golfer to get a birdie on the fourth hole today.
He’s now just one back of Sungjae Im at 4-under on the tournament.

— The Masters (@TheMasters) April 8, 202211 A.M. - Chasing Numbers
Wind is already proving to be a factor during the second round of The Masters at Augusta National Golf Club on April 08, 2022 in Augusta, Georgia. (Photo by Andrew Redington/Getty Images)
We’ve talked about the wind several times already today, but it’s worth mentioning that even with calmer winds now, play has already changed.
There are 21 golfers under par currently, and it’s clear that many of those red numbers are happening because of aggressive play. With the conditions expected to get much worse, low numbers are only going to happen now, most likely.
We probably won’t have 21 golfers under par at the end of the day. Just sayin.
10:25 A.M. - Topsy Turvy Henley
Russell Henley plays his shot from the bunker on the second hole during the second round of The Masters at Augusta National Golf Club on April 08, 2022 in Augusta, Georgia. (Photo by Jamie Squire/Getty Images)
Russell Henly had a fairly quiet first round. He shot a 1-over 73, with a double, a bogey, and two birdies, plus 14 pars.
Round 2 has already proven to be WAY more exciting.
He started with a double bogey on 1 (for the second straight day), and followed with birdie-birdie-double-bogey. Five holes and shapes around every number.
He’s probably ready for a lot of pars. (UPDATE: He got a par on 6!)
Oh, and up top, Sungjae Im got a stroke back at 3 and is even par for the round, and the solo leader at 5-under.
10:10 A.M. - Windy City
No, not Chicago. Augusta is going to be the windy city today.
This is fine. Everything is fine. (Unless you’re a golfer with an afternoon tee time.)
Checking out the wind forecast throughout the day...
— Jason Sobel (@JasonSobelTAN) April 8, 2022
10 a.m.: 10 mph, gusts to 17
12 p.m.: 14 mph, gusts to 22
2 p.m.: 21 mph, gusts to 31
4 p.m.: 20 mph, gusts to 3210 A.M. - Im Drops Back
Overnight leader Sungjae Im has already lost his overnight lead. He was 5-under atop the leaderboard after Round 1.
But a bogey on the first has brought him back to 4-under, where Cameron Smith also sits. Smith doesn’t tee off until 1:30 p.m.
Tom Hoge is having a good start to the morning, with birdies on the first two holes, and is 1-under for the round, tied for 10th.

Today seems to be a bad day to be sitting in the grandstands near the green on No. 5.
Cameron Davis and Christian Bezuidenhout both took out their frustrations on the fans in back-to-back shots. (Watch here.)
So either both of those gentlemen are having rough days, or the wind is starting to play some wild games.
9:30 A.M. - Seeing Red

It’s early, but Augusta National is already showing it might not be as friendly today.
Only two players so far are in red numbers on their round. Charl Schwartzel had a birdie on the par-5 second hole. He’s 1-under on the round and on the tournament. He’s currently tied for 10th. Corey Conners birdied the second hole, and he’s now -3 and tied for third.
The wind has started to pick up, so pars are going to feel a lot like birdies on several holes today.
And of course as we type this, Schwartzel hits a shot into the bunker on 4. Glad to see our curse is consistent.
8:35 A.M. - Glover and Champ
Our highest positioned players on the leaderboard who are on the course already are Lucas Glover and Cameron Champ.
They both just had pars on the first, after identical rounds of 72 yesterday. That’s good enough for a tie for 19th right now.
Glover had a wild ride Thursday, with five birdies, three bogeys and one double bogey for the 72.
Champ went a little cleaner, with five birdies and five bogeys. Augusta National is like that sometimes.
Fore please, Cameron Champ now driving. #themasters pic.twitter.com/xVO9bOxlhY
— The Masters (@TheMasters) April 8, 20228:05 A.M. - And Away We Go
Sandy Lyle and Stewart Hagestad have started Round 2 play.
Lyle (+10) hit a beautiful shot down the center of the first fairway. Hagestad (+7) is learning that playing as an amateur at Augusta National is no easy task. His drive placed him in the right-side bunker.

— The Masters (@TheMasters) April 8, 20227:40 A.M. - Tricky Pins
With high winds forecasted in the Augusta area today, approaching each hole will already be a challenge.
Some of these pin placements today are not gonna make that any easier.
Don’t expect much to change on that leaderboard today… at least not with lower numbers.
Our first golfers off today will be Sandy Lyle and Stewart Hagestad at 8 a.m. Our leader goes off at 9:39 a.m. And Tiger Woods goes off at 1:41 p.m.
