Happy Birthday, Angelina Jolie! 9 Other Celeb Moms Who’ve Adopted
Angelina Jolie turns 42 over the weekend, and while she’s known for her film and activist work, she’s also a mom of six.
This includes Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne. Three of her children are adopted from other countries, and Jolie regularly brings the kids back to visit their birth places. In honor of her birthday, here are 9 other celebrity moms who have adopted:
Madonna
Madonna adopted son David from an orphanage in Malawi, then brought daughter Mercy into the family. She later adopted twin girls from the same orphanage.
Katherine Heigl
Heigl and husband Josh Kelly adopted daughters Naleigh and Adalaide before welcoming their biological son last year. Heigl’s older sister was adopted as well. Both she and Naleigh were originally born in Korea.
Hoda Kotb
Hoda adopted daughter Haley Joy at age 52 after a battle with breast cancer left her unable to conceive naturally. The two posed for a heartfelt shoot for People magazine earlier this year.
Kristin Davis
The Sex and the City star became a mom to Gemma Rose in 2011.
Viola Davis
Davis and her husband Julian Tennon adopted daughter Genesis in 2011. Tennon has two children from a previous relationship, but Genesis is the first child they share together.
Sheryl Crow
The singer welcomed son Levi in 2010, and Wyatt in 2007. When speaking about the adoption, Crow said, “Adopting my boys, that’s just been the biggest everlasting event that has informed everything.”
Sandra Bullock
The Oscar-winning address became a mom to son five-year-old Louis in 2010. Later, daughter Laila joined their family. She was previously in foster care in Louisiana.
Charlize Theron
Charlize Theron’s relationship with actor Sean Penn was ending just as she was moving through the process of adopting her second child, a newborn daughter. Though there were questions about whether Penn would be considered the kids’ adoptive father, Theron confirmed in an interview that this was not the case.
Connie Britton
Connie Britton has dubbed her adopted son Yoby her favorite travel buddy. “I drag him everywhere! I mean, he’s always on a plane and he is just the best companion. My son is like the greatest person on this planet!” she explains.
