In honor of Black History Month, we felt it was time to highlight our favorite African American Male Athletes.

View the gallery below of these amazing athletes, see some statistics, and the yardstick measurements for every athlete that will come after them, hoping for greatness.

LeBron James

Not exactly a college dropout, but LeBron was able to chase the NBA with the Cleveland Cavaliers without even stepping foot on a campus team. James, who is hailed as one of the biggest basketball stars of current day has led his teams to multiple NBA titles. One of the highest paid stars, he has multiple endorsements including Verizon, Coca-Cola,m and even Beats By Dre.

Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods has had some ups and downs in his career, but none of the downs actually stemmed from his athleticism. He got his glory by being the youngest man and the first African American to win the U.S. Masters, and won 13 Masters total so far.

Michael Jordan

5-Time MVP winner and 6 NBA Championships, Michael Jordan has been called THE BEST Basketball Player of all time. He also snagged 2 Gold Medals in the Olympics as part of the U.S. Basketball Team. He also tried his hand at Baseball, which ended up being more satirical than anything, so much so, it ended up as a plot line in the 90's cult classic that Jordan starred in alongside an animated cast of Bugs Bunny and Friends called 'Space Jam.'

Kobe Bryant

With 5 NBA titles under his belt, Kobe ranks with LeBron as one of the biggest basketball stars of this day and age. He's always been a dominant scorer and has even broken records that Michael Jordan has set in the past. He's since retired in 2016.

Shaquille O'Neal

Shaq wasn't always the best free-throw shooter, but he did rank Top 10 in scoring, rebounding, blocks and shooting percentage in general. Standing at a 7-foot tall stance, he dominated mostly in size. After retiring, he not only became an analyst for the league, he also became the spokesperson for so many different brands, including Icy Hot, Gold Bond, and even Buick.

Muhammad Ali

The most well-known Heavyweight Champion of all time when it comes to boxing has been celebrated for years and is pretty much known by every person to ever exist. He had many political views that shook the world, but his boxing itself became legendary and inspired millions, including his own Daughter, Laila Ali, who has become one of the world's most celebrated female boxers. Ali's record was 56 wins and 5 losses, which are some amazing statistics.

Jackie Robinson

Jackie Robinson was the first black baseball player to ever make the Major Leagues, and played for the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947, made MVP in 1949, and then a World Series Champion in 1955.

Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Though Floyd may run his mouth quite a bit, he's got something to show for it. He has won 5 titles across 5 different divisions, which makes him a lethal opponent. He also is a winner of 3 Golden Gloves and an Olympic Bronze Medal.
