Fyre Festival Organizer Could Be Sentenced To 40 Years in Prison
Remember the hot mess that was the Fyre Festival? Its main organizer is facing some serious jail time because of his shady business dealing.
Per CNBC, Billy McFarland pleaded guilty to misleading investors and two counts of wire fraud, and each count has the maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. While the judge presiding over this case will determine McFarland’s sentence, Rolling Stone reports that the prosecutors and McFarland’s lawyers reached some sort of agreement that may result in a sentence of 97-120 months.
McFarland will find out his fate at his sentencing hearing on June 21.
