Jennifer Lopez to Perform Motown Tribute at Grammys

Jennifer Lopez is scheduled to perform during Motown Records' 60th anniversary tribute titled “Motown 60: A Grammy Celebration" at the 2019 Grammys. 

A commercial promoting the performance aired on CBS on Monday (Feb. 4), according to Rap Up.

The star-studded special will commemorate the legendary record label's legacy and will feature the GRAMMY-nominated singer, actress, and dancer. It will take place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Feb. 12 and will air live on CBS on April 21.

Although J. Lo has never won a Grammy, she was nominated for two, including Best Dance Recording in 2000 (“Waiting for Tonight”).

The announcement of Lopez performing during the Motown special caused an uproar on Twitter. Many who took to the social media platform to criticize J. Lo for being a part of the special felt that she doesn't have the vocals ability to do justice to the material.

The 61st Grammys will air this Sunday (Feb. 10) on CBS with singer-songwriter Alicia Keys as host. Keys will be the first woman to host the Grammys in 14 years, according to Style Caster.
