Jimmy Kimmel Will Return As The 2020 Emmy Awards Host
Jimmy Kimmel will return to host the upcoming Emmy Awards, according to E! News.
In a statement, Kimmel said, “I don’t know where we will do this or how we will do this or even why we are doing this, but we are doing it, and I am hosting it.” The talk show host has previously hosted the Emmys in 2012 and 2016.
Karey Burke, president of ABC Entertainment, says, “He’s a true master of ceremonies who reveres this industry and its people; and just as Jimmy has done with his own show over the past few months, he will tackle this momentous event with heart and humor, and bring some much-needed joy and optimism to our television colleagues and viewers at home.”
E! News points out that for the first time in Emmys history, the Television Academy won’t have its annual Governors Ball event this year. They add that the 2020 Creative Arts Emmys will be a virtual event due to COVID-19.
Emmy nominations will be announced on Tuesday, July 28. The Emmys are scheduled to air Sunday, Sept. 20, on ABC.
