The reality star revealed her husband's condition after being scolded by guests when she didn't wish a visitor a "Happy Birthday," she later asked for some sympathy for her son, who was there at the time and her because what the family is currently going through.
She told the guests per PEOPLE. "When people approach and say, 'You're rude because you don't want to say happy birthday,' my husband is at home dying. I don't want to say 'happy birthday.' "
"So please, give us some respect. Give us some love," NeNe added.
The next day the media personality posted a photo to Instagram with the word "HEARTBROKEN" with some broken heart and prayer hand emojis.
NeNe's celebrity friends flooded the comment section of her posts with thoughts and prayers.
Real Housewives of Atlanta co-star Porsha Williams commented, "Praying for you all during thus difficult time."
Rapper Nicki Minaj added, "♥️."
Per PEOPLE, Gregg was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2018, had been in remission for two years. Back in June, NeNe revealed he was hospitalized and recovering from surgery following the return of the cancer.
"It's difficult," she said during an Instagram Live at the time. "He's super small. If you've ever been around somebody who's had cancer before, he's different. He's different."
