Born Robert Sylvester Kelly, the disgraced singer was sentenced in a federal courthouse Wednesday (June 29) in Brooklyn by Judge Ann M. Donnelly. Last year, he was found guilty on one charge of racketeering and eight counts of violating the Mann Act, which prohibits the transport of “any woman or girl” across state lines for an "immoral purpose."
“To the victims in this case, your voices were heard, and justice was finally served,” acting US Attorney Jacquelyn Kasulist said outside the courtroom after the verdict per Page Six.
“No one deserves what they experienced at his hands. Or the threats and harassment they faced.”
In addition to this sentencing, Kelly is still facing another federal case in Illinois and a state trial in Minnesota.
