Kodak Black To Enter Drug Rehab Facility
A judge has ordered Kodak Black to enter a drug rehabilitation facility for allegedly testing positive for fentanyl earlier this month. The South Florida native appeared in court on Tuesday (Feb. 28) after a warrant was issued for his arrest last week. Per XXL, police say Kodak, born Bill Kapri, failed a random drug screening on Feb. 3. When he came back to give a sample on Feb. 8, it allegedly came back positive for fentanyl. During the hearing Tuesday, Kodak’s attorney Bradford Cohen argued that the lab worker could have mixed up his sample with someone else’s due to being starstruck by the rapper. The lab worker testified it was a possibility that that is what occurred.
Instead of going to jail for violating his pretrial release, the judge ordered the “ZEZE” rapper to a drug rehabilitation facility for 30 days. However, Kodak will be enrolling in rehab starting Tuesday (March 7) as his defense argued to delay his start date so that he can perform at his previously scheduled show at the 2023 Rolling Loud California Festival this weekend. The rapper is planning to donate a portion of his profits from the show to charity.
Upon leaving the courthouse Tuesday, Cohen called out a local news outlet for allegedly publishing an article on Kodak refusing to provide a hair sample. “Of course, channel 10 got it wrong,” he captioned a photo of himself and Kodak leaving court. “No one refused a Hair sample. Pretrial does not provide Hair sample services.”
He added, “But I am glad @kodakblack will get an opportunity to take a break from his hectic schedule and focus on his physical health,” he continued, commenting on Yak’s upcoming stint in rehab. “Great kid, great philanthropist, and as usual a portion of his Rolling Loud pay check will go to the Meadow Pollack scholarship fund at Nova Southeastern Law School, that he set up last year. @local10news You often see news reports that aren’t accurate because they want those subscribers, and won’t report on the good in the community and the good Kodak does there as well. Doesn’t make for a good story.”
