Kim Kardashian's Relationship With Kanye West Was ‘Beautiful’

Kim Kardashian is reflecting on her "beautiful" past relationship with her ex-husband, Kanye West. That being said, the SKIMS founder shared that she is in a "very good place" with the "really solid" people in her life right now. In a new interview, Kim, 42, learned some important life lessons from her seven-year-long marriage.

"You cannot help people that don't want the help," the Kardashians star said. "You can't force your beliefs and project that on someone that thinks something totally different." Though she didn't list Kanye by name, she further spoke about having "different views" with people previously in her life. She added, "It's why the world goes round. But if you don't align in the same values and morals and things at your core, then it's okay to realize that this life is so short, and you should go and find the people that do align with what you really believe in."

She continued to say that those are some of the things she teaches her kids when they're looking for "friends and partners and relationships. You can't really force things upon other people. You can't expect them to be where you're at, at your level." The former couple shares four children together: North, 9, Saint, 7, Chicago, 5, and Psalm, 4.

Kardashian said sometimes the differences could "coexist really well. But then sometimes, it really can't." Alluding to her marriage to West (they began dating in 2012, married in 2014, and divorced in 2021), Kim doesn't feel like it was a failure. "Sometimes I feel like people think that if a relationship doesn't work out that it's a failure, but I don't really look at it like that 15 years together, ten years. That's not a failure. That is so beautiful," she added.

Kim Tried To Make It Work

On the season finale of The Kardashians last June, Kim gave fans more insight into her relationship with Ye. She told her sister Khloe at the time, "If people knew what my relationship was really like, I think they’d be like, 'How did this last this long?' But I can live with myself knowing that I tried everything humanly possible to make a situation work, and so I could walk away absolutely guilt-free."

Kim added, “I feel like you can at least say you had a family. You tried, everything in your might. You can look your daughter in the face and say that." The exes' divorce was finalized last November after agreeing about joint child custody, waived spousal support and property.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West may be going through one of the more high-profile, messy divorces as of late, but there was a time when the two looked very happy to be in love. The two first met in the early 2000s when Ye was recording a song with Brandy, who Kim was friends with.

Fast-forward to when Kim married Kris Humphries in August 2011 for a total of 72 days of marriage, later revealing that her divorce from the NBA pro helped her discover her feelings for West, and the couple began dating that same year. In May 2014, they tied the knot; they share four beautiful children together: North, 8, Saint, 6, Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 2.
