Halle Bailey and DDG's relationship has been a hot topic on social media for quite a while now. The rising star touched upon this in her May cover story for Glamour. As Bailey makes herself a household name with the upcoming premiere of The Little Mermaid and The Color Purple with the latter premiering Christmas Day (Dec. 25), her personal life has also been on full display.

"Mentally, sometimes it’s really difficult being in this industry," she explained. "Knowing that there are so many opinions [about] you and what you’re doing, or what you should be or what you could be doing better. People sometimes put you on this pedestal. They forget that you’re a real human being. They forget that you have feelings, that you cry."

In terms of her relationship with rapper DDG, the 23-year-old is still keeping that part of her life as private as possible. "It’s really funny how people look at you [as] still being this young girl, still being this innocent, untouchable thing. I appreciate that as I venture into adulthood, I’m able to make my own decisions. For my peace and my sanity, I have to keep that private."

The pair, who started dating last year, were involved in some drama with DDG's ex-rapper Rubi Rose earlier this year. The "Wifey" rapper alleged that DDG slid in her DMs after he and Bailey had been rumored to just had broken up.

"U still in la?," DDG allegedly wrote to Rubi via DM. "Yeah," she responded. "wyo (what you on)," he said. "Getting ready hbu (how about you)," she wrote, adding, "U hitting me the day y'all argue is so you." DDG responded, "lol u right, lemme heal first."

Halle commented on the drama and ensured fans that her relationship was fine.

"The devil is working," she wrote in a since-deleted tweet. "Lol please don’t feed into the lies, especially from a third party. Stay blessed everyone." In a quote retweet, DDG expressed, "Can y’all let my meat go now. Rubi is a weirdo. She been hating on my relationship for years."

Disney's The Little Mermaid had its world premiere Monday night (May 8). The film stars Halle Bailey (Ariel), Jonah Hauer-King (Prince Eric), Melissa McCarthy (Ursula), Javier Bardem (King Triton), Jacob Tremblay (Flounder), and Daveed Diggs (Sebastian).

Bailey spoke about the cultural impact of playing Ariel as an African-American woman.

"This moment means everything to me, I’m so grateful to be here," she told Deadline during the premiere's "blue carpet." "I just feel really honored and I’m happy the day has finally come where we can all watch it."

"It means the world to me, especially for the beautiful babies to be able to see a reflection of themselves," she added. "I am just honored to be a part of this and be one of the princesses now because for me it was Brandy as Cinderella and then Anika Rose as Princess Tiana. So the fact that I am getting to continue this and live on this legacy is really exciting and I’m just grateful."
